How much Contents Insurance do I need?
The following guide is to assist you in deciding on a suitable Sum Insured for your household Personal Belongings being moved.
It is always best to over estimate the amount being moved using a 'New for Old' value as a guide, particularly for items such as furniture, electronic equipment, kitchen utensils, clothing, gardening and sporting equipment, where costs to replace a like for like item may vary to when you purchased them.
Our Insurance pricing may not vary greatly if you were to increase the contents value from your original estimate, so please consider this when you are obtaining a quote.
With items such as artwork, antiques or curios it is a condition of your policy that if the item is valued at $1,000 you have a recent valuation (within 5 years) or receipts that evidence ownership and a better description of the item. This will be needed if you make a claim.
